Name that Garden-Butterfly Contest

Open to the residents of Shady Shores only. Participants are invited to submit a name and artwork project to be voted on. The winning project will represent the new butterfly garden at Town Hall.

Contestants are submitting a name and artwork for the naming and logo of the butterfly garden at Town Hall.  Proposed name and artwork must be used for printed marketing, website promotion, social media, and wearable design. While not required, we encourage artwork to be submitted in various sizes and printed formats to demonstrate versatility. Submission should be both a digital file and on a 22x28 foam board to be displayed.

One design per applicant. All artwork must be original. Third party, trademarked, or restricted will be prohibited

Artwork will be displayed outside around the proposed garden site and inside Town Hall. The Town of Shady Shores desires to keep displays safe from damage or harm. Artwork not chosen will be returned at the end of the contest. Artists will be notified when to pick up their work.  Artwork will only be kept for 15 days from the close of the contest.

Artists will be notified after each round. Winners will be determined in a three-round process:

Round 1: Community members will choose the top 6 by vote at the garden dedication on November 6, 2021. Each voter will be allowed to vote for their six options. Art will be displayed using the submitted 22x36 foam board. The community's top 6 choices will move on to round 2.

Round 2: Town of Shady Shores, Keep Shady Shores Beautiful Committee will choose a top 3 that will move on to round 3.

Round 3: Town Council will decide on a final winner at the December 2021 Town Hall Meeting.

Artists' names will be removed to avoid conflict of interest in voting. 

Town of Shady Shores reserves the right to choose the next highest voted entry if there is an issue with getting the right to use the artwork or the design of the artwork does not align with organizational needs. 

Only residents of the Town of Shady Shores may enter. 

Prize: The name submitted and artwork will be turned into the logo and the official name of the butterfly garden.  

Winners will grant the Town of Shady Shores permission and full rights to use the proposed name and artwork. Paperwork must be signed and returned in order for the winner to be officially selected.
