We need your help to protect our homes, businesses and the environment from the effects of sewer backups caused by clogged pipes. One way you can help is by spreading the word about the 8th Annual North Texas Holiday Grease Roundup!
The Town of Shady Shores is teaming up with the Wastewater And Treatment Education Roundtable, North Central Texas Council of Governments, and other area cities to hold the 2023 Holiday Grease Roundup.
The regional collection will be held from Monday, Nov. 13, through Friday, Jan. 12. Residents from all over the Metroplex will be able to safely dispose of their used cooking oil and grease for free.
By collecting and recycling this used cooking oil and grease, we are:
- preventing these products from clogging pipes, which can cause sewage to overflow into homes, streets and local waterways. (This can be costly and inconvenient, even if the repair is not in your home. If the sewer overflows, city crews have to shut down streets, tying up traffic and increasing expenses for both residents and the city. )
- diverting a valuable resource from wasting away in landfills.
- turning this resource into a clean and green alternative fuel.
Please partner with us to spread the word about the Holiday Grease Roundup. Visit www.defendyourdrainsnorthtexas.com for more information.
Town of Shady Shores residents can dispose of used cooking oil and grease by bringing it in sealed plastic containers to the Town Hall parking lot- a collection barrel will be located in the southeast corner (This is a used cooking oil and grease collection only; used motor oil should be brought to a household hazardous waste location or an automotive supply store.)
